INDOOR SUP Challenge, April 16th 2016—It was a successful first-ever indoor SUP event in Greece for the 6th Annual Hellenic SUP Cup at the Olympic Center pool in Athens. With the luxury of an all-new indoor format, the weather conditions were the last thing on organizers’ minds. The heats were full of contestants and the bleachers were packed with spectators. The crowd could finally attend an event from start to finish just meters away from the action.
All athletes showed great effort to advance to each next round in hopes of reaching the final. The odds were equal for everybody—adults, kids, men and women. The most memorable heats were the ones with spectacular starts, unexpected collisions, dancing moves at buoy turns, falls and turnovers.
Local team Naish riders finished strong and in first place for every category: Nikos Syrigos (men), Konstantina Kontarini (women), George Giginis (Juniors), Lea Stalman (Girls) and little Petros Kontarinis (kids).
Next stop of Hellenic SUP Cup is on June 19, 2916 in the sea of Piraeus.
