Role: R&D Design Engineer

Job Description:

Naish International is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our R&D team that will be mainly focused on Wing and Foil sports. This person will play a critical role of the End to End R&D process. This includes ideation, market research, design, sampling, testing and production management. It also includes the communication around the products (features, benefits) to relevant stakeholders (marketing, sales, retailers, importers etc.).

Next to foil and wing, this person will be involved in projects around Windsurfing, SUP and Kitesurfing. In this role, the person will work closely with our lead Wing and Foil design engineer, but also with the rest of the R&D team that is based on Maui and Hood River on ideation and file creation surrounding Kite, Wing, Foil, Windsurf and SUP parts and accessories.

Working both individually and in a team, this role allows the person to come up with new innovations and designs to be presented to the R&D Product heads and upper management. This role reports to our Head of Product and R&D.

Key Responsibilities:

• 3D Design: 3D modeling for Kite Wing and Foil parts, accessories and packaging.
• R&D Collaboration: Work with the team to come up with new ideas and find innovative solutions to improve Market products in all categories
• Foil Line up: Work with the department heads to develop a line up of products to fit the needs of the international market
• Factory Communication: Communicate prototype files, manage production timing and quality control with our overseas manufacturing facilities
• International Work Travel: Visits to manufacturing facilities to work on concepts/build check on production methods. Travel for testing prototypes and visits to key areas and meetings.
• Prototype Testing: Lead and collaborate on testing/validation of prototypes during the development and approval phases.
• Presentation of products and concepts: Sharing and international travel to key events and meetings presenting new designs to internal and external groups.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical/Aero/Civil/ Naval Architecture or equivalent experience
• 3D Modeling Experience (Solidworks/fusion preferred/Rhino acceptable)
• Riding Skills (Wing/Foil/ Kite) Passion for water sports. Ability to learn and relate technical knowledge to on the real world feel and performance
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills both written and verbal
  
• Public Speaking Experience (for product presentations)
• Manufacturing experience
• Composite Experience
• 3D Printing Experience
• Hands on Building Experience (Surfboards, Foils, Mechanical Projects, etc.)
