Kai Lenny Wins Eighth SUP World Title
November 2, 2017, Maui, Hawaii – Naish’s Kai Lenny adds an eighth SUP World Title to his collection as he has been crowned the 2017 APP World Tour SUP Surf Champion. Finishing runner up in the tour rankings is Naish teammate Bernd Roediger.
After narrowly missing the title in 2015 and 2016, Kai was stoked to reclaim the title he won back to back in 2013 and 2014. In 2017 Kai looked in tune with the ocean and his Naish Hokua, competing with a smooth yet calculated intensity that few were able to match.
Also making a statement on the APP World Tour is Bernd Roediger who finished runner up to Kai. 2017 has been a break out year in a big way for Bernd who chalked up SUP Race wins in the Maui 2 Molokai, M20 and Columbia Gorge Paddle Challenge along with his second place overall for the APP Surf Tour. Bernd has more notoriety for his surf exploits. Known for his smooth and effortless style and ambidextrous stance, Bernd was able to put himself in contention for the World title for 2017 and is certainly one to watch in 2018.
Kai continues to stay busy as he currently sits at the top of the World Surf League Big Wave World Tour rankings after wining the Puerto Escondido event and making the finals at Peahi. Kai also recently released his latest film project, Paradigm Lost, featuring incredible surf, SUP, kite and windsurfing action and is available on iTunes.
Be sure to follow both Kai and Bernd on social media to stay up to date with their latest adventures.
