Naish’s Casper Steinfath defends his Title as the 2014 Danish SUP Surf and Racing Champion
August 16-17, 2014 – The 4th Annual Danish SUP Surf and Downwind Championship event took place this past weekend in Cold Hawaii, Denmark and Naish’s Casper Steinfath defended his two SUP titles on his new 2015 Naish Javelin 12’6” X26 LE and took the win, making this his 3rd Danish SUP Surf Title in front of his home crowd!
On Day 1, paddlers were greeted by 30 knots of howling wind for the Technical SUP Race and luckily, event organizers reacted quickly to the conditions and changed the course to a 7 km downwind run along the infamous “Rescue Road”. Casper hit top speeds of up to 32 km/h using his Naish Javelin 12’6” X26 LE and cruised into 1st with a time of 35 minutes. A few minutes later, Casper’s brother Peter came whistling around the corner in 2nd on his Javelin 12’6” LE.
On Day 2, conditions were near perfect for the SUP surfing event to take place in the bay of Klitmøller. Casper stepped up the competition on his new 2015 Naish Hokua 7’3” LE, ripping up the competition wave for wave one heat at a time, taking 1st in the Surf event. Congratulations again to Casper’s brother Peter who took 2nd in the event using the same Hokua 7’3” LE.
“It was a weekend of non-stop action here in Klitmøller for the Danish SUP Surf Championships! I am still recovering from all the action and catching up on what actually happened! All I know is that the conditions were EPIC and we all had too much fun competing for the Danish Titles. I am super stoked with my new Naish 2015 boards that helped me win the Danish SUP Surf Title yesterday against the many hungry and ripping Vikings! It was awesome to battle against my brother Peter in the final and I am happy to see the level of surfing keep going through the roof here in Viking-land.”
Congratulations!
