After a long and exciting week of excellent performances and great vibes in La Boquita and in Granada, Nicaragua, the 2014 ISA World StandUp Paddle and Paddleboard Championship culminated on Day 5 with the Grand Finals of the Men’s and Women’s SUP and Paddleboard Technical Races.
Lake Nicaragua greeted competitors with a beautiful and hot day to crown the remainder of the event’s World Champions. In the Men’s SUP Technical Race, Naish’s Casper Steinfath (and defending ISA World Champion) had the best overall time of the day, finishing in 25:00 on his Naish Javelin LE. Steinfath was in 4th place with only 300m to go in the race, but the experienced champion waited for the right moment to strike with the energy he had conserved and channeled his inner Viking to power past the competition. After rounding the final buoy, Steinfath was in a full sprint and overtook the lead, defending his gold medal!

Naish’s Jenny Kalmbach also made a statement on her Naish Javelin 12’6” LE during the women’s SUP Technical Race and finished a note-worthy 3rd! Amazing job Jenny!
