Peri Roberts is Crowned 2nd Overall at the GKA World Tour in Cabo Verde
March 6, 2020, Cabo Verde – Stop one of the GKA World Tour has started off on a high note for Naish team rider Peri Roberts with a second place finish at the first stop of the 2020 GKA World Tour this weekend. Roberts is now ranked second in the world and is on a mission to make her way to the top.
Reflecting on this past weekend’s event, Peri reported this Cape Verde trip had its ups and downs. Despite running into some trouble and having her belongings stolen, she continues to show us that nothing can stop her – she walked away from the event with a 2nd place podium finish. Described by event judges as the “powerhouse Aussie,” Peri proved their words right, receiving the highest total female score of the competition in round 4 with her Naish Slash and Alana board.
“I won my first heat and jumped straight to round 3 and then I won rounds 3 & 4. I met the reigning world champ, Carla Herrera in semis and beat her. I lost to Ines in the final who took the win, I think I got 10.27 & she got a 12,” stated Roberts.
Peri’s 2nd place finish has motivated her just that much more to get to the top of the podium. “I am stoked to have come out with 2nd for the event in Cabo Verde. My goal for this year was to be on the podium for every wave event, so starting 2020 on a high note has me really motivated to jump that step on the ladder & get to first. I’m so hungry for a win!” said Peri.
Peri is now back home in Australia, training, resting, and preparing to visit the Naish headquarters here in Maui soon for some more wind, waves and gear testing. Congrats again Peri + we will see you in the islands!
