September 1-October 31, 2016, San Francisco, California, USA – Starting september first, the holding period for Red Bull Heavy water starts for the third stop of the 2016 Stand Up World Series.
While most of the Stand Up World Series events take place in glassy, flat water conditions Red Bull Heavy Water is completely the opposite. Conditions require waves to reach a minimum of 10 ft faces at one of California’s gnarliest beaches for the race to receive the green light to run.
The 12 km course, which begins at Ocean Beach, will require racers to go in and out of 10 ft+ surf before rounding Lands End Point and sprinting underneath the Golden Gate Bridge to the finish line near the St. Francis Yacht Club in the San Francisco Bay. This race will require much more than the ability to just paddle fast but will be a true test of each paddler’s ability to read the ocean conditions and navigate through the surf make to finish let alone win.
Competing for Naish includes Kai Lenny, who’s comprehension of big waves and SUP racing make him an event favorite, as well as current Stand Up World Series #1 Casper Steinfath. Also competing will be Bernd Roediger, Kody Kerbox and Tucker Ingalls. For more information visit the Event Website or the Stand Up World Series Facebook page.
