Stig Hoefnagel Takes Home 3rd Place at the Cold Hawai’i Games Big Air Event
September 13th, 2020 – Vorupør Strand, Denmark : For athletes, the rush of competing is a feeling hard to put into words – pushing their limits, breaking records, getting that podium finish… With a summer of no competition, the Naish team was frothing to get back on the water and send it bigger than ever.
Last weekend, five members of the Naish Team travelled to Denmark for the Cold Hawai’i Game Big Air event. It was a weekend filled with gusting winds, cold water and a new level of stoke. With some of the worlds top riders, this competition was bound to be tough and full of action.
Stig Hoefnagel, Cohan van Dijk, Clement Huot, Rene Barner and Marius Sanchez, all vying for a podium finish, sent it as hard as they could. Stig and Cohan found themselves battling in Round 3 for a slot in the Semi-Finals and by just 1 point – Stig took the lead on his 9m Pivot and Monarch. Making it to the finals, Stig went to work, landing some insane tricks with style and ease. Competing in the finals against Langeree and Lasse Walker was no easy feat, but Stig rose to the challenge and finished strong.
Hoefnagel took home 3rd place and is now more determined than ever to train, compete and fight for the gold. Stig told us “I am beyond stoked that I made it to the finals. After going several months without competing, it felt so good to be back in competition mode. I couldn’t have wished for a better turn out, especially being able to compete with my friends and funny enough we are all from the Netherlands! Thanks to the whole crew and organization for making this happen!!”
Congrats Stig and we are looking forward to seeing the Naish team on the water and back in competition mode.
