Team Naish Reps At The Bora Bora Liquid Festival
Bora Bora’s Liquid Festival hosted hundreds of water athletes competing in the 13th annual ocean competition from December 2nd-8th, 2013. The event, originally known as the “Ironmana”, included various ocean-based events, as well as cultural festivities on the side.
Competitors took to the pristine Tahitian waters to race in standup paddling sprints, single-man outrigger canoe (va’a hoe) and surfski races, as well as long distance rough water swims. Naish riders joined some of the world’s greatest athletes to test their skills and proved quite successful in challenging conditions such as straight on & side winds, boat chop, and strong currents. Riggs Napoleon even made the trip from Oahu to put his paddle to the grind in the 35K SUP race that circled Bora Bora – which was far from an easy task!
Congratulations to Jenny Kalmbach (Naish Javelin 12’6” LE) for taking home Gold in the event and Tahiti’s Uraniu Chevalier (Naish Javelin 12’6” LE) for her 3rd place finish in the Women’s category.
Big ups also go out to Tahiti’s Moehau Goold (Naish Javelin 14’0” LE) for taking the top spot on the podium and Te’ina Ebb (Naish Javelin 14’0” LE) for his silver finish!
