5TH PRIMI Naish Downwind Series Going Strong
A fresh bout of wind rocked up just in time for the 5th race of the PRIMI Naish Downwind Series – 15-22 knots and 2-3ft waves made exit and paddling a breeze in Big Bay in Cape Town, South Africa.
The race was again dominated by Naish rider Ethan Koopmans (Naish Javelin 14’0” LE) and Dylan Frick, who were neck and neck as they rounded the final buoy. In the closest finish ever witnessed in 3 years of SUP downwind racing in Cape Town, Dylan just managed to edge ahead of Ethan for the win by 0.662 seconds! With his 2nd place finish in the Open event, Ethan continued his reign by taking 1st in the Junior’s category. Another amazing performance by these two young, up and coming super stars – they cleared the rest of the field by a margin of nearly 6 minutes!
In the Masters, Peter Petersen baptized his new Naish Javelin 14’0” X26 LE by winning the masters and taking third overall with Joshua Robertson securing 4th overall on his Naish Javelin 14’0” LE. Nice win!
The forecast is looking perfect for next week’s 6th and final race of the PRIMI Naish Series, so stay tuned!
