Naish’s Kai Lenny Takes 2nd at the 2014 Maui 2 Molokai Race
Naish’s Kai Lenny has been training for the Maui 2 Molokai race for quite some time, and his hard work has not only paid off, it has shown he’s even more of a threat as the SUP racing season progresses.
Often called the “World’s Funnest Downwinder” thanks to its endless bumps that allow paddlers to literally surf their way from one Hawaiian island to another, the 27-mile Maui 2 Molokai race attracted paddlers from all over the world on July 12, 2014 to test their overall skills before the ultimate Molokai 2 Oahu race in a couple of weeks.
From the very start, Kai and his Unlimited 17’ Naish race board along with Connor Baxter, Dave Kalama and Travis Grant lead the pack of 76 participants out of Honolua Bay on Maui and then each ultimately broke away from the pack while crossing the channel to Kaunanakai town on Molokai. After catching numerous glides (sometimes the length of football fields), Kai and his hunger to win stayed constant as he crossed the finish line just 2 minutes behind Connor.

Naish’s Kody Kerbox and his Unlimited 17’ Naish race board also rounded out the Top 10, placing 7th. Amazing job Kody!
