Team Naish brings it at Duke’s OceanFest
The 12th annual Duke’s OceanFest took place from August 17-25th throughout Waikiki last weekend, featuring a variety of ocean sports that were close to Duke Kahanamoku’s heart, including paddleboard racing, stand-Up Paddling, and swimming to name a few.
Naish’s Mariko Strickland not only participated, she once again made her mark by taking 2nd overall and 1st in Saturday’s Women’s Distance Race on her Naish Javelin 14’ LE. To close out the event, she then kicked it up a notch on Sunday during the SUP Surf Course race and took home 1st place! Way to go Mariko! Boomkanani!
Naish’s newest team rider, Riggs Napoleon, also contributed to the podium by finishing in the top 10 alongside Noa Ginella at the SUP Showdown Event and an astounding 2nd place finish in the SUP Surf Sprint Final. During Saturday’s Distance Race that spanned from Hawaii Kai, around Diamond Head, and into the finish, through the surf into Waikiki, Riggs also managed to place 8th overall & 2nd in his division on his Naish Javelin 12’6” LE. On Sunday’s sprint races, he continued to show his fresh moves with a 3rd place finish.
If this wasn’t enough, Mariko and Riggs then joined forces for the Team Relay Race and rocked their overall talent with a nice 2nd place finish.
Strong performances by everyone who participated – keep it up!
